A Fireside Chat with MedTech Exec-Turned-Lawmaker, Representative Angie Craig
Representative Angie Craig didn’t grow up absorbed in politics. Her childhood dream wasn’t to run a campaign or someday be the president. She simply wanted to be able to visit the doctor’s office.
Watch Representative Craig discuss her perspective on health care issues, her career journey and more with WEN Chair Tracy MacNeal as part of WEN’s Paths to the Top interview series.
CONNECTIONS
Diversity by Doing
The Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign, Fogarty Institute for Innovation, and medtech CEO Maria Sainz have launched Diversity by Doing or DxD Healthtech, an industry-wide initiative to raise awareness of inequity in the health technology ecosystem and help individuals take action to create a more just and inclusive environment. Their work on gender includes a recently published survey on leadership representation and perceptions of workplace equality, and they are in the early stages of efforts to improve racial equality and inclusiveness. The mission of DxD is to empower diversity change agents by providing education, expert voices, and practical resources.
AN OPEN LETTER TO MEDTECH
We Can and Must Stand for the Cause of Equal Justice for All
Across the country – and around the world – people are standing up and raising their voices against the systemic inequality that plagues our society. AdvaMed President and CEO Scott Whitaker sent an open letter to the medtech community on the cultural crisis we’re facing – and how we can be part of the solution.
MEDTECH MOBILIZES TO COMBAT COVID
Since the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak, AdvaMed member companies have worked to quickly respond to increased demand in medical technologies including PPE, ventilators and diagnostic tests. They have ramped up production wherever possible, coordinating closely with governments to ensure the delivery of supplies where they are most needed, and have created new diagnostic tests to help effectively diagnose sick patients. We thank our member companies for their continued efforts to mobilize for health care workers and patients on the frontlines. Learn more about how the industry has come together in the fight against COVID-19.
