Think Outside the Lab

Featured Johnson & Johnson Innovation speaker: Billy Cohn, M.D., VP, Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices; and Director, Center for Device Innovation

Dr. Cohn, current Professor of Cardiothoracic Transplantation & Circulatory Support Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Cohn has had many successful innovations including one of the first commercially available self-retaining coronary stabilizers for performing off-pump beating heart coronary artery bypass, The SentreHeart LARIAT, a percutaneous system for excluding the left atrial appendage in patients with atrial fibrillation at risk for embolic stroke, The TVA Medical percutaneous system for creating arterio-venous fistulas for hemodialysis access in renal failure patients, and the granddaddy of all innovations, working closely with O. H. "Bud" Frazier on the first continuous flow total artificial heart. Recently, however, Dr. Cohn has credited Mother Nature herself for his current medical device innovations and will be at the Medtech Conference to teach you how to think outside the laboratory and see that innovation is all around you.

Join us for a session on learning the tricks of the trade in preparing a non-confidential deck and executive summary. Experts of the craft will share practical tips on becoming more effective in communicating your story to Angel investors and VCs, increasing your chances of successful fundraising.

CDI @ TMC QuickFire Challenge Winner Announcement

This fall Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices and Johnson & Johnson Innovation will open The Center for Device Innovation (CDI) at the Texas Medical Center (TMC), a broad, new collaboration with Texas Medical Center that aims to accelerate end-to-end development of breakthrough medical devices.

In conjunction with the grand opening, Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices and Johnson & Johnson Innovation and launched the CDI @ TMC QuickFire Challenge, a device-focused challenge aimed at game-changing early-stage medical device innovations across strategic areas of interest for Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices, with an emphasis on Surgical Oncology and/or Obesity.
