What is Being Done to Secure Connected Medical Devices?
Tuesday, September 26 | 10:25 am – 10:45 am

The health care industry is continually looking for practical solutions to improve the security of connected medical devices. Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a necessary aspect of security for IoT devices and offers comprehensive authentication, encryption, and the assurance of data and system integrity. In this presentation, Digicert’s Mike Nelson will discuss the benefits and risks associated with connected medical devices. He will delve into the complexities and considerations that must be accounted for when implementing a PKI solution. Mike will also review approaches manufacturers are taking to implement strong security practices, including public key infrastructure.

  • Presenter: Mike Nelson, VP of Healthcare Solutions, Digicert

Effective Segmentation & Targeting: More than Just Medical Claims
Tuesday, September 26 | 10:50 am – 11:10 am

In these times of economic uncertainty, stakeholders across the management value chain are placing greater scrutiny on how sales and marketing dollars are spent. Traditional methods for identifying and assessing marketing opportunity, ascertaining the right targets and aligning sales forces against those targets are based on the assumption that one has the right data foundation to properly support those marketing efforts.

Understand how you can leverage QuintilesIMS’ industry–leading collection of publicly available information as well as real–time hospital purchase data and private medical claims data to support a multitude of business applications. These applications span from real–time performance tracking, market sizing and benchmarking, and pricing insights to effective segmentation and targeting of stakeholders across the health care value chain. More importantly, understand how you can enhance traditional market analytics by seamlessly leveraging the integration of the many ancillary QuintilesIMS data solutions.

  • Presenter: Aaron Dickson, Senior Manager, Product Management – Medtech, QuintilesIMS

Rotation Medical - Value Initiative
Tuesday, September 26 | 3:30 pm - 4:00 pm

The U.S. health care system is increasingly placing a premium on value, as cost containment pressures and the demand for quality patient care continue to grow. Determining how value is assessed in this changing system will be the crucial challenge if medical innovation and progress – and the patient and societal benefits they generate – are to continue.

AdvaMed’s Value Initiative is designed to provide stakeholders across the health care spectrum – patients, providers, payers, innovators etc. – with tools to objectively determine the value of a medical technology or diagnostic test and the evidence needed to support its use.

Rotation Medical developed a use case to demonstrate the value of the RM BioInductive Implant technology across all of the identified value drivers and for a range of stakeholders. CEO, Martha Shadan, will discuss the insights gleaned from the exercise.

  • Presenter: Martha Shadan, CEO, Rotation Medical

How to Put the IoT into Regulated Connected Medical Devices
Wednesday, September 27 | 11:00 am – 11:20 am

As the pharma industry embraces smart drug delivery devices, regulated sensors and regulated apps to support everything from exploratory clinical endpoints to improved adherence on commercialized products, it is quickly innovating the traditional Class 2, 3 and combination product into the world of IoT. This transformation should unlock immense value for pharma companies but will require many new capabilities and partnerships.

First and foremost is starting with a product designed and manufactured to be smart, next is ensuring that the device operates on an IoT platform that can support regulated devices. There are many “platform solutions” available but few can support smart Class 2, 3 and combination products that aim to do anything more than turn a paper journal into a digital one. We will present the viable options as well as discuss how to set your smart device program up for success so that the data is not only turned into insight but that insight is delivered to the patient or provider at the right time resulting in actual clinical and business impact.

  • Presenter: Kal Patel, MD, Senior VP, Digital Health, Flex
